Coach K Book Signing

The Emily Krzyzewski Center to Host “Meet the Authors” Event with Coach K and Jamie K. Spatola on April 18th, 2009  

April 6, 2009, Durham, NC – The Emily Krzyzewski Center (EKC), a learning center that serves high potential economically disadvantaged students, announced today that it will be hosting a special “Meet the Authors” event on April 18th featuring Coach Mike Krzyzewski and his daughter and co-author, Jamie K. Spatola. 

The event will begin with a private coffee at 9:00 am.  The coffee will be held at the EKC and feature three young authors from the K to College Model program who will share excerpts from their writing.  Coach Mike Krzyzewski and Jamie K. Spatola will also read from their new book The Gold Standard, Building a World Class Team.

The private book signing will be followed from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm with a public sale and signing of “The Gold Standard”.  The Duke University Book Store will have books available for sale with a portion of proceeds being generously donated to support students at the EKC. 

Jamie K Spatola says,“The Gold Standard is more than about the Men’s Senior National Basketball Team over the three years which culminated in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.  It is a story about team building and a guide to the way in which my dad feels that world-class teams come together.  Of course, team-building moments happen away from the locker room and basketball hardwood.  And one of our favorite stories of team building has happened before our very eyes right here in Durham at the Emily Krzyzewski Center.  Over the course of just a few years, the EKC has evolved from an idea to a reality that is already making a great impact on the lives of some very talented young dreamers.  We believe that impact has everything to do with the team that CEO Marleah Rogers and her staff have formed – a team made up of passionate staff and volunteers, the talented and hard-working young students, and their committed families.”
