Durham Regional Association of Realtors Support the K to College Model

The Emily Krzyzewski Center Receives
Generous Donation from the Durham Regional Association of REALTORS

October 27, 2009, Durham, NC – The Emily Krzyzewski Center, a learning center that serves high potential economically disadvantaged students, was presented today with a generous donation from the Durham Regional Association of Realtors (DRAR).  This gift resulted from the DRAR’s fundraising efforts during their annual lunch and auction which was held at the Center on October 16th.  Marleah Rogers, CEO and President of the Emily K Center spoke during that event, giving a brief overview of the Center’s K to College Model programs and the importance of the support of local individuals and organizations like the DRAR.

Renee Piere, Chair of the Community Service Committee for DRAR, along with other Association members had a chance to tour the Center and speak with four Pioneer Scholars students before presenting the check.  Elementary and middle school students talked about their experiences as Pioneer Scholars, noting the academic support the Center provided and their desire to go to college.  During the presentation, Renee thanked the Center and the students for their hard work and the impact they are making to improve Durham.

Marleah Rogers, CEO and President of the Emily K Center also expressed her support.  “We appreciate this partnership with the Durham Regional Association of Realtors.  Their financial support as well as their willingness to meet and interact with our students has been a great benefit to our scholars.  Individual and organizational support like this allows us to support our current students as well as continue to grow and serve more.”
